Current Trends
Current Trends presentations are done each semester by each class in Athletic Training (seniors, juniors, and sophomores). These presentations are meant to present information on a current topic in Athletic Training. Below are some samples of projects from my junior and sophomore years with our most recent presentations first. I would like to say that not all of the information in these presentations necessarily reflects my beliefs or my practices in terms of Athletic Training. These are group projects and, as such, reflect the beliefs and practices of the individual members of my class. We have grown a lot over the course of two years and have learned to utilize evidence based practice and research much better. We have learned that a lot of what we presented may not have been the best research, but I believe this shows our growth as researchers. The first is on the new trend of "cupping" therapy or myofascial decompression, the second is on the new VICIS helmet out of Washington State, the third is on the Bridge Enhanced ACL Repair surgical technique (which has since been under a lot of scrutiny), and the last was our very first current trends presentation on performance enhancing supplements. Enjoy!
